We are the Durga Ma Mandala web design team. We believe that simplicity is the best formula for good web design. All proceeds from this enterprise help to support our ashram.

 

A few years ago, we attempted to have a web site designed so that we could get the word out about Durga Ma and offer our books and music for sale on the web.

We hired a company from the internet. They had a slick web site and a nice gallery that demonstrated experience and expertise. They looked like the real thing.

A year later, our site still wasn't finished and the "company" no longer existed (the guy blew town). We were out $2000 and still had no web site.

We tried again.

This time, we tried someone within driving distance (we figured we could bang this guy on the head with our purses if he wasn't a good boy). This was a real live, walking, talking person we could actually see (and supervise). We deposited $500 and paid two years in advance for hosting, almost $300. One day, our "designer" simply stopped working on the site and disappeared. We were now out $2800 and still had no web site.

So we tried again.

This time, we got a referral. Nice guy. We met him in person and agreed on a plan. We made a deposit and a web site actually started to go up. We thought we were soon to be in business, but .... you guessed it. He disappeared, too!

$3800 later we were still without a viable web site. We decided it was time to quit throwing money away.

We gave up.

Two years later, we said, "We really need a web site! What are we going to do?" We all looked at each other, silently starring into space for a moment, and a light went off in our heads. "Let's do it ourselves!" we said. And so we did.

We did it ourselves.

We liked doing it and decided to do this for others as well. We would create inexpensive, effective and efficient web sites at reasonable rates. And SimpleSites4Less.com was born. And . . . . .
